CASTOR

The orbits of the planets in our solar system (and the vast majority of planetary objects in the universe) are not perfectly circular, but have an orbital eccentricity, technically called an ellipse, and it is this that has become the main motif of the CASTOR table on whose body it appears three times. The ellipse is a shape that is very suitable for a tabletop. Not only does it look elegant, but it also provides more space around the table compared to a rectangular tabletop. The veneered table top is 60mm thick and finished with a matt lacquer. The shape of the top continues in a scaled down form into the central table base, which provides the table with perfect stability and ergonomics. An ellipse-shaped cut-out is incorporated into the base, which lightens the mass of the base and visually softens the table. The base is finished with piano lacquer and the elliptical opening with gold leaf.
